The first Ambassador Conference (19-20 Nov) The two days event was in the planning since 2019. Things got push thus far, but despite all the chaos of 2020, we managed to bring together most of our ambassadors for the first time. Those who couldn’t come due to travel restrictions from the south, joined virtually.
The conference was to come together and define the role of ambassador in the form of a ToR. It was to equip them with adequate WASH knowledge and profound mindset and attitude towards toilet, which they already possess. As our representatives in the regions they are our voices and hands on the ground.
The conference was also to build the capacity of the ambassadors to plan, keep accounts and report back to us on events where they are involved.
One of the most significant outcome of the conference was the formulation of the study question: Toilet: A Secret Face of Management. This proposed study is to conduct toilet auditing exercise across different institutions and find the correlation between the condition of toilet with the management. The draft evaluation tool was tested and feedback were gathered from the ambassadors to improve the form.
We are grateful to our Chair Dr Lam Dorji for gracing the opening ceremony as the chief guest and taking a session on fund raising with us.We thank Country Director of Helvetas, Aue Tashi Pem for gracing the Closing Ceremony as chief guest, along with Mr Tshering Phuntsho.
We are indebted to our speakers Mr Rinchen Wangdi PHED, Mr Raj Kumar SNV, Mr Sonam Gyaltshen UNICEF, and Mr Karma Wangchu SHND for enriching our WASH arsenal with invaluable pieces of knowledge and data. As pioneers in the field it was an honour listening to you.
